Super Jolly LLB2.

Hi all,

I am finally back after a mini hibernation, almost after 15 days. Actually it’s not just me who was in a hibernation mode, our Bollywood was also in the same mode. Almost after fifteen days of big dramatic clash of Raees and Kaabil, our Akshayji brings us the first movie of Feb 2017 literally half way through the month. February we call it the month of love, where couples actually hit the theatres for movie dates but this year there was no movie to watch until Jolly LLB2 came as a savior and also as a breather after those heavy dhoom dhadaka movies.

I got so excited that I barely could wait to go on a movie date and instead went on for a morning show with my siblings. The movie by Subhash Kapoor comes back with a similar concept but a different clumsy lawyer Jagdish (Mishra) Aka Jolly who is a simple man living with his not so simple fashion wannabe wife Pushpa (Huma Qureshi) and a chubby son. The film surely hits the audience with the concept of Law and order situation in our country in a fun and light-hearted manner.

It begins with the idea of how our country lacks basic education to adapting all the wrong means to pocket some extra money to the reality check of value of lawyers in our country. Witty Jolly just wants his own chamber as a lawyer and wants to make his father proud, but in all this he doesn’t realize he plays with life of Hina Siddique portrayed by Sayani Gupta.

Just a simple story of realization and then trying to fix things by getting Hina and her husband Manav Kaul (Iqbal Kasim) the justice. The complete process of juggling between Benaras to Kashmir to courts of Lucknow, gives the audience the reality check of Corrupt cops to Funny Judges to Filthy local courts to Rich Lawyer packages to our Judicial system. The movies paces out quickly with amazing supporting cast be it Lawyer Mathur (Annu Kapoor ) or the Cop Suryaveer Singh (Kumud Mishra) or the Slow paced Judge (Saurabh Shukla) or Jolly’s assistant Birbal (Rajiv Gupta) and many more to add to the list.

Music of the film by Vishal Khurana is not so great except for the song “GO PAGAL” which already seems to be a hit in the country and will definitely be an anthem during Holi this year. The colorful song and the details of the film are also captured well by DOP Kamaljeet Negi. Veera Kapur who has done costumes for the films like Piku and Vicky donor has handled the wardrobe of the cast in the film.

Mr. Jolly is an average aspiring lawyer who hails from Kanpur and currently living in Lucknow wearing terracotta trousers with white shirt and those sport shoes sneakers with them nailed the look. Akshay Kumar totally carries that also off with poise and style. Apart from his lawyer look he is seen in casuals as well in simple basic jeans and those sasta fabric semi-fitted shirts again paired with those shoes. To top it off he had his tikka on the forehead with perfectly oiled and combed hair with that moustache and pan in the mouth. His UP accent was completely adding to his costume and character. And not to forget his scooter, this Bajaj scooter is definitely making our heroes hit be it Sultan or Dangal ka Mahavir Singh or our Jolly.

His wife Pushpa on the other hand thinks she is a diva, you know like that typical woman who just knows the brand names and aspires to own one of them some day. She is seen in basic Indie fusion clothing like Kurtas with Pallazos or Ghagras with minimal jewelry and heeled chappals. The prints and colors worked well for Huma and her body type and she totally carried it off with grace. She was seen in a neoprene white and black apparent Gucci dress that she rents out for a dinner date with her husband. I only wished her hair didn’t have that much volume as at certain places it looked all over the place.

I think costumes play a vital role in building Hina’s character, from her worn out printed Salwar Kameez to that dirty dupatta to her messy braided hair with that bag, was well thought off as a character.

Lawyer Mathur was a rich one and knew his brands well, with those perfect fitted suits for the court sessions to his casual bold red attire for golf, the polo t-shirt tucked in with that Hermes belt and gold bracelets and chain gave us a quick glimpse about his character riding in the range rover.

Other characters like senior lawyer who Jolly works under in those sherwani long jackets with that topi shows the adab of Lucknow or the negative cop Kumud Mishra in simple half sleeves shirts or polo t-shirt with trousers or the retired constable Sanjay Mishra as guruji who is wearing a Marley t-shirt with those reflector sunglasses with pan in his mouth in Benaras, every actor had the right set of wardrobe which clearly made the characters appear as real as possible.

All in all Akshay Kumar is back with a bang in 2017 and we are looking forward to more of his films and guys you’ll should definitely go watch this film if you have no plans for today or maybe catch up a late night show over the week.

Till then feel the love in the month of love,

Happy weekend and Valentines Day.

Love,

Cine Closet.
