Not so Pyaari Half girlfriend.
Hello guys,
Hope you’ll saw my last post and took some inspiration from
your favorite characters in the 90’s. It’s so weird or you call it a circle of life that
you always come back from where it all began. So is the case with the fashion
and style.
Anyways so last week Meri Pyari Bindu by Akshay Roy had hit the
theaters and as I told you’ll I was very excited for the upcoming films, with
all due enthusiasm I went for the movie but honestly speaking what a serious
let down that film was. The so-called Bindu played by Parineeti Chopra was not
at all Pyaari and then Mr. Abhimanyu Roy (Ayushmann Khurrana), the duh hero of
the 80’s and 90’s, who says wassup bro? Way too slang for that era don't you guys think so? After that whole experience of cinema I was so disappointed
there was no inspiration for me to write about it as well.
But guys where there is a will there is always a way, so a
new week, a new Friday and a new film to watch, chalo there was hope, if not
Bindu but Half Girlfriend by Mr. Mohit Suri will lift up the mood, although not
a fan of Aashiqui 2 but Chetan Bhagat book adaptations have been good usually.
Anyways so Friday morning decided to catch up on the film starring clichéd
heroine Riya Somani who is way beyond rich and Bihar ke gaon ka chokra, Madhav
Jha who can play basketball but angrezi is not his scene. I mean hero hai, too
cool and all but why so fake bihari, I guess learning the Bihari accent was
much more difficult than learning English for Mr. Arjun Kapoor. Seriously
speaking, can’t even say half things good about half girlfriend, I mean why
waste so many resources to make such a film that falls flat on the viewer’s
face.
But you know something both the films taught me a great
lesson.
Here is the list of five similarities between the two awful
films of the month:
Number one similarity
where the story leads or maybe you can say all the issues begin are both our
leading ladies be it Bindu or Riya, have parental issues, are so confused and
lost in life, love making the most out of the boys in their lives, but are too
cool to date them. Come on ladies they are your heroes, if any complains then
kindly question your director?
Both of them love to sing! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Can we please
concentrate on acting rather than singing? Peace out.
Bindu had some serious wardrobe issues, her clothes were
lost somewhere between the era of 80’s and 2017, and she majorly wore short
skirts with tops and heels and platform shoes. The color story was so dull and
bland; prints were boring, I wish I got some inspiration from her after all
that hype of weight loss and so many pictures leaking from the shoot. But wait
guys I mentioned similarities so how can Miss Riya be left behind, she has fared better than Bindu in this.
I mean we know you are super rich Mam but you
don’t need to be so perfectly dressed all the time. I mean those tiny hot
shorts for basketball practices, and then shorter shorts in the college with
the super high tie-up heels and over accessorized and fake bags from Chanel. We all have been through our college phase, but I don’t think any college in India at least, lets you wear sheer short dresses. And those
hairstyles and winged liners why? Not just that, later in Bihar phase we see Riya also in handicraft boho attires with silver jewelry.Too gimmicky!
Both our Mama’s boys, struggling in life, not so rich belong
to mediocre families and want to make it big for various reasons. Their lives
are super dull before our heroine enters and breeze starts gusting, music
starts playing, hormonal rushes, uff but sadly both the heroines are champion in
making our heroes dance on their fingers. Abhimanyu Roy seems like an
intelligent character in the film with those glasses, pajamas and kurtas and as
we get into a flashback we see younger version of him in those oversized
sweatshirts and t-shirts with high waist jeans and shoes, that was very well
translated but soon it all falls apart as the film moves forward.
Madhav Jha was no less, firstly his body is not even close
to a basketball player, so stiff and broad and then secondly just because he
hails from Bihar lets give him handloom custom shirts, I mean regular striped
shirts or solid shirts would have looked more real, and slowly denim shirts and
cooler bags and jeans becomes part of his looks.
To sum it up both the films were such a sheer example of
discontent. Whether it is the music of both the films, and what was that
English accent song in half girlfriend, I mean why?? And not just that,
costumes of both the films, sadly no inspiration from the characters built up
to entertain us. And visually both the films didn’t seem attractive at all.
Will be going for Hindi Medium soon guys, hope that can lift
up the mood. Stay tuned for more filmy fashion updates.
Happy Sundays.
Love,
Cine Closet.
