Cheers to Miss Padukone.
Hello,
So we are in the New Year already,
with loads and loads of missions to fulfill. For me I am living each day as it’s
approaching. Today was a beautiful day for me; it was gurupurab, went to
Gurudwara with family, did Sewa, had langar and relished each and every moment.
In the afternoon after all this
when I came home, I was just going through all my social media pages and
realized that today is the birthday of our Bollywood empress who is a complete
combination of elegance and sexy. She as an actress has grown with every movie
and has given us fabulous style statements in the films.
Our one and only Deepika Padukone,
so today on her special day here’s a quick recap of her top five films which
gave us some serious fashion goals.
COCKTAIL
This movie not only created news
for its box office success but it was also the talk of the town for Deepika’s
style. Firstly she dared to choose the role of Veronica instead of Meera. The
rebel young girl living in London who is also an aspiring photographer had
great fashion sense. From her full volume lioness hair to experimenting with
hairstyles to her cool make up with smoky eyes and those heels and accessories were the picture-perfect
accompaniment to her costumes. Few of my favourite from the lot were her olive
green backless gown, her opening scene outfit (bralet with a sheer top and mini
skirt) or a simple pallazo paired with a tank top, all the girls surely are
guilty of trying atleast one look from Veronica’s wardrobe.
2 OM SHANTI OM
This was her debut film with King
Khan of Bollywood Mr. SRK and not even once did she look a newbie. She shared
the screen space with Mr. Khan with great poise. She looked like a delicate
idol of sheer elegance in those over top bouffants with crystals and roses and
that winged eyeliner, Uff, maar daala. Her beautiful retro outfits as Shanti
Priya were definitely a style statement. Be it those Bell-bottom pants with
tight fitted Kurtis, shararas or those polka tops with retro glasses, loved it
all.
PIKU
So this one is my personal
favourite, be it the movie, the character of the film or her costumes. The idea
was delivered with such simplicity we just fell for it. Piku was a mature
independent woman taking care of her father and all the responsibilities in a
city like Delhi. After so long saw a heroine in such a girl next-door avatar.
She didn’t just create news for her glamorous roles but also was in headlines
for her simple yet chic avatar. From her sweatshirts to her basic shirts with
jeans and not to forget to mention her ethnic mix and match culottes with
Kurtas and scarves. Her jewelry and that bindi was perfect to complete her
look.
YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI
How can I not mention this film
when we are talking about Deepika and her style statements, her transformation
from a young nerdy student in those printed tops and dresses layered with
jackets to a liberated doctor in all the more sexy avatar in the second half of
the film made us all go gaga over it. Her outfits were surely on the shopping
list of all the brides and bridesmaids, be it those simple suits or sexy
electric blue sari and not to mention that orange and pink one shouldered choli
with a tiered lehenga, perfect for a summer wedding.
RAM LEELA
Last but not the least, this film
not only took Deepika’s career a notch higher because of some serious critical
acclamation for her power packed performance and blazing chemistry with Mr.
Singh but also made all girls fall in love with those earthy colored heavy
ghagras all over again. The color story of those ghagras was completely
different from deep reds to blacks to ivories, with that beautiful Gujarati
style mini tattoos all over and not to mention that stunning temple jewellery
she adorned with those outfits. Her song Nagade sang Dhol is still a hit with
those dance steps during Navaratri season.
So cheers to Miss
Padukone and wishing her happy birthday the Cine Closet way. We already can’t
wait to see her do the Hollywood debut in XXX, releasing next week. Stay tuned
for more fun posts.
Love,
Cine Closet.
