Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro.

Hi all, thank god it’s Friday tomorrow and there are two movies to watch and write about this weekend, Ok jaanu and XXX, although I am more excited about the first one and a little upset.

2017 began on a little low note for Indian cinema with the sudden death news of the veteran actor Om Puri who passed away last week. Social media sites were flooded with posts and messages of late Mr. Om Puri, about his best films, his contribution to Indian cinema, top 5 characters and etc etc.

Of course we all know he has been a major influence to our Indian film industry with his unique art movies be it Mirch masala or Ardh satya, he did a few Hollywood films as well in key roles and also made us laugh in unique roles be it Punjabi jaat in Hera Pheri or the typical secretary in chachi 420. He played each character seamlessly in full power.

Every character had its own skin but there was one character I think you all will agree with me guys that took us through a laughing roller coaster, Builder Ahuja from Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro. I think he was one of the funniest and key characters in the film.

Be it his meetings with Pankaj Kapur (rival builder) in the film or trying to bribe (the corrupt cop) Satish Shah, I think in all the scenes he was the understated highlight. My favourite scene was when he is too drunk and he talks to the dead body, I mean it had us all in splits.

Not just his acting skills or character sketch stood out for me, but his style in the film was also too cool, from his fitted shiny suits to his moustache to those gold flashy sunglasses and those ties, and his Mahabharata costume in the climax with those sunglasses, I don’t think anybody could have played this role better than him.

He might have not been a lead character but he definitely was always the main pillar of every movie he was part of. And surely movies like these will always be watched and talked about in coming generations as well.

Love,

Cine Closet.
