Xander Cage Sundays.

Hello,

Today my Sunday started off a bit early, woke up at like 7 in the morning and rushed to gym for my usual workout session, which was definitely much more refreshing than my 11 am workouts. Then after a hush hush gym session ran to get ready to go watch XXX: The return of Xander Cage directed by D J Caruso.

You wont believe for the first time I might have actually asked at least 10 people to accompany me for this movie and literally everybody had excuses to give, some didn’t want to watch it, some were too busy, so after all that drama I just decided to go solo for this one. It was a great experience for me as there was no one to bother me in the middle of the movie, which led me to watch it at peace. It’s not the best thing to go for a movie alone, but one can definitely try it sometimes for fun. Anyways coming back to the film I went to watch, So to be honest I am not a fan of XXX series and might have not watched the previous ones on television for more than 5 minutes, but our Bollywood heroine was going to make her big and a badass debut in Hollywood and there was so much hype revolving around so I thought why not give it a try.

I guess there are two types of people one who loves all the dhoom dhamaka, fighting action sequence, all sorts of aimless stunts and a loopy story about the same old American villains then a squad made to protect the people of the country and then the win over those villains and the latter ones are who think these kind of movies makes no sense. So basically XXX: The return of Xander cage is all about that, Vin Diesel who was under the hiding returns back to find Pandora’s box which is almost like a device that controls the satellites and can be used anytime to destruct the globe.

So like any other action thriller, this film also had full masala of a cool girl (Ruby Rose) shooting like nobody’s business, a cute innocent girl (Nina Dobrev) who can turn into a baddie hacker with all the gizmo knowledge or maybe a mentor (Samuel L. Jackson) who is always there for Xander, a DJ cum fighter (Kris Wu) and not to mention Deepika in the role of Serena also part of the XXX with multiple shooting guns and grenades. You love a few action sequences in the air, water or land with all that hyped tempo music in the background but beyond that there is nothing much in the movie.

Deepika in the role of Serena has bagged a decent amount of role in the film, but after always seeing her in the films as a girl next door, this sexy avatar of hers looked a little forced and didn’t go much well with her personality. She maintains her normal English accent in the film instead of trying to make it sound stroppy with all that boldness.

Kimberly A. Tillman has done costumes for the film and has defined look for every character. Vin Diesel as always is bad cum good boy with that big body and tattoos , he had his looks between those multi pocket cargo shorts and sleeveless vests or cargos with his patent big furry jacket and that silver necklace.

Ruby Rose was almost given a tom boy look with short turquoise hair, those boots and pants and rugged tops with a gun always in her hand and of course tattoos. Nina Dobrev on the other hand was like a very regular assistant kind of girl with knits and trousers and striped shirt with a blazer jacket and not so nerdy glasses which looked cute.

Our Deepika padukone was seen in all black looks, be it a very casual beachy dress in the beginning or a full sexy leather crop top, shorts and those thigh high gladiator boots, her hairstyle and over all make up looked the same except for the fact even she had a lot of tattoos.

Other cast is also see in very rugged and regular oversized t-shirts layered with asymmetric jackets with a rave haircolour or maybe a hairstyle or a piercing to give that whole villain cum hero vibe.

Overall the movie was not an epic experience at all and unless you are a die-hard XXX series fan or a Deepika Padukone fan you can’t sit through it for sure.

Have a great week ahead.

Love,

Cine Closet.
