Made in the 90's.

Sometimes we have this habit of non-deliberately taking style inspiration or copying that style from our favourite celebs, stylists, designers or friends. With social media getting so active in past few years we are definitely exchanging ideas worldwide, be it food or business or travel or anything. One such thing is style trends. In India we all are going gaga over a few international trends, but did we ever think that all these trends have already been spotted in our Bollywood films.

Remember my last Friday’s post about King of Romance and how he gave us the era of realism in 90’s, Mr. Yash Chopra certainly redefined the image of a naive pretty woman. I reminded you’ll about those favourite films we all loved watching while growing up. The funniest part is in past one week I actually ended up coming across Dil toh Pagal hai and DDLJ movies, Darr songs being showcased on television, which surely reminded me of those strong style moments his movies he created for us. I could literally connect the style and fashion in the film from 90’s to now in 2017.

If you actually don’t believe me then you’ll should definitely scroll down the styles I picked up from his films and my sister help me curate looks that are major trends now and those pieces are currently available in all our regular brand stores like zara, forever 21 or designer boutiques not just in India but across the world.

Pair it up.

The biggest style statement we all are falling for right now, pairing the regular round neck white t-shirts with our sleeveless or strappy dresses and tops. I think its one of the coolest trends across the globe, which was already adorned by our favourite Simran in the song Na Jaane Mere Dil ko kya hogaya…. Uff that Red dress paired with white t-shirt was conservative yet sexy.

The infamous Cow Bell in the background from DDLJ.

Ditched the flared red dress and paired it with this sporty dress with boots.

The Sporty Chic.

Our social networking sites are filled with the workout looks, gym looks, workout videos, workout fashion with girls wearing the coolest gym gear ever and motivating all the girls to get up and hit the gym to look super sexy, but did anybody notice those cool sports bras, shorts and sneakers were already part of one of the super hit film 12 years back!
Any guesses??????

Dil toh pagal hai!
How can we forget Karisma Kapoor grooving away on hit numbers in those sexy hot shorts and sports bra with sneakers that surely made some news that time.

Loved her moves in this face-off.

The Bare Shoulder Girl.

The only thing I see girls wearing is an Off-shoulder top or a dress. They are almost available in designer stores to our department fashion stores to streets in all prints and variations. I myself am guilty of owning that style in wardrobe. But how can we forget those scenic moments in the film Darr when Juhi Chawla is looking for her passionate follower in the song Jadu teri nazar. We all fell for that song, but more than that I guess all the girls fell for that white off-shoulder top and midi skirt our diva was wearing in the song.

Before this song, Sridevi has also sported the similar look in the film Lamhe!

Off-shoulder style currently has some serious variations in market, from off-shoulder shirt to sweatshirt to a jumpsuit or anything. In past also, Yash Chopra has made his costume designers experiment with this style. One such example is Sridevi in Lamhe, that yellow Pleated Off-shoulder outfit, which made her look all the more beautiful.

The Whites.

I already shared with you’ll how years ago white as a color in our country became a beautifying color for women, all thanks to Yashji. Internationally also now everybody is taking inspiration from beautiful Greece and its white washed architectures but I guess we Indians already have our inspiration on how to wear the white!

Those white chikan kurtas that can never go wrong! Pair them up with your favourite jeans or salwar or Pallazos or Churidar or Dupatta and they will always look stunning. Be it Kajol from DDLJ with colorful bandhini dupatta or Madhuri in all white attire, we all wanted to get that style in our wardobes and still wear them!

The Plain Jane Sari.

Oops last but not the least; I had to mention this when it comes to Yash Chopra who surely redefined Saris for us. Those Hilly sheer sari songs he gave us, which we can never forget.
Currently we all are ditching away those heavy crystals and stones studded saris and opting for simpler or rather Plainer Maa ki saris and mixing and matching them with our crop tops and blouses which is surely a revival of this chicest sari trend created by the King of Romance.

So now all you girls actually know the actual origin of the coolest trend we are following currently! Happy fridays! :)

Love,
