The KJo Factor.
Hello all, crazy week right? Waiting for that Diwali bonuses
and literally cant wait to get that 4 days break from the frenzied workspaces.
Are you’ll ready with the To Do List for this minication? Even I am mentally
preparing myself as to what all shall I do… From trying on some new Restaurants
to meeting my Family friends and spending some quality time with them to
watching the big budgeted and much-hyped films Shivaay and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.
I am sure movie buffs like me will watch both the films but
the regular janta are almost debating on this topic whether should we watch
Karan Johar’s much-awaited Ae Dil Hai Mushkil?? With all the nationalistic
controversy involved around it Indian audiences have almost boycott the film
and are puzzled about the whole filmy cum political agenda. But guys, there is
much more beyond this.
Karan Johar’s directorial debut Kuch Kuch Hota Hai also
released during festive season, which was a sure hit among the masses. He
didn’t stop there; he expanded his Dharma productions. After Yash Chopra, I
guess Kjo is the only director who gave us the idea of Family drama; we can
surely see glimpses of Yash Chopra’s style in his films. Beautiful locations,
art direction with all the grandeur and all that love. His movies surely creates
a beautiful dreamy world for us, which we know is not real but who cares we can
sit back and enjoy that small dreamy world for sometime atleast.
Let me give you quick five fashion trends Karan Johar gave
us in his films and made us fall in love with those characters.
Poo AKA Pooja (Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham): Poo was a brat for
sure. From being in the local area of Chandni Chowk and bullying Rohan to being
in London, she surely knew how to turn heads. And her opening scene in that
purple room, from her music to her boudoir to her nighsuit, we all wanted to recreate
that moment and secretly enacted that scene in front of the mirror. She surely
gave us some serious dress up goals from cool mini skirts to the edgy diagonal
cut of crop top; she wears for her introduction scene and Bole choodiyan. The
red “you are my soniya” prom outfit (Crop top and slit Bell Bottoms) stood out
the most for me.
Sexy Sam (Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna): I guess between all the
couple shuffling and love triangles and just friendships, my favourite
character in the film was Sexy Sam. He surely introduced the idea of Big Daddy
in the Bollywood film. Even though we didn’t see him much on the screen but his
fun and sexy attitude surely was appreciated among the audiences. We see his
emotional side as well, with all the regret and love for his wife. From his
expensive and diverse range of specs to his Super cool Furry Jackets and
Trenches paired with bright hued Shirts, Karan Johar surely knew how he had
penned this character and how would he guise in the film.
Mandira (My name is Khan): We all noticed how Shahrukh Khan
had put in so much effort in this film, with his vocal skills to his gestures
but I feel the more stronger character in the film was Mandira. The strong
independent single Mom, working hard to suffice her son’s need and is still happy
and positive. Being a hairstylist herself she always had her combed back with a
simple hairband portrayed the hecticness right in her life. Even though her
costumes were pretty simple with that regular attire, she still looked pretty.
Her simple and elegant green and fuschia suit she wore for her Mehndi and that
simple Red sari, pretty woman.
Dean Yoginder Vashisht (Student of the Year): This film just
completed four years last week. Even though this film marked the debut of three
actors, which didn’t leave much of a mark. One character that stole the show in
the film was the gay dean in the film. The college with a gay dean, super
fictional. Unreal but still movies are meant to be fun right; the dean added
the fun element to the film. He watering the plants to crushing over the sports
teacher to being a strict principle loved it all. He was the cutest principle
ever. Perfect suits with pastel colored shirts like pistachio green and
lavenders and he carrying that burberry umbrella, surely reminded me of my
Fashion School director. My favourite moment was he dancing on Radha song.
How unreal or dreamy Karan Johar’s characters and films are
but they always are the perfect mix of emotions and family drama. From fun
romance to intense romance we have always got a mix of this amalgamation in his
films, which is his USP I guess. So now we all know what to expect from his
film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and can surely go watch it once with the family during
this holiday season for a dose of entertainment.
Shivaay and Ae dil hai mushkil film and costume reviews coming this weekend, so stay tuned guys.
Love,
