Happy Birthday Rockstar.

What better way to wish your favorite actor than by dedicating a post for him on his birthday?? He is the heartthrob of all the girls and a genuine charmer. He has not only given us some lighthearted fun movies but also proved himself as an actor by doing some unconventional movies. From being bunny in Yeh Jawani hai Deewani to being Jordan in Rockstar, he didn’t fail to make space in audience’s heart. Our one and only -  RK.

Come on girls didn’t we all go awww when he comes at Deepika’s doorstep on New Year’s Eve with that smile on his face in YJHD??? It definitely melted my heart. Or his muted charm in Barfi, which not only made us laugh but also cry.

How to forget his super cool dance moves! From Shaking a leg with Madhuri on the song Ghagra to doing some Matargashti with Deepika in Corsica, we all gave away our hearts to him!

He danced, gave us some contemporary music or showed us his acting skills and also created some supercool style statements in his films. I have picked out top 5 Movies that created some major style moments and definitely gave some tough competition to all our other heroes.

ROCKSTAR

The film directed by Imtiaz Ali starring Nargis Fakhri and Ranbir Kapoor was a beautiful musical journey of Janardhan, who aspires to be a Rockstar. The transformation from Janardhan to Jordan in the film was a sight to watch. From the song Tum Ho to Sadda Haqq it immediately became the hit among the youth. I couldn’t stop admiring with such cool finesse he carried off those completely off beat style Pathani Salwar. Aki Narula, the costume stylist definitely created a trend in the film.

From plain salwars to the tartan checked ones, paired with shirts, kurtas or those jackets. Love them all. Can’t miss out on those cool badges on his jacket, guitar strap and the keys he wears around his neck. Hats off to not only the stylist and director for creating this character but also to our actor Ranbir Kapoor for carrying these looks flawlessly.

WAKE UP SID

A not so typical story of a typical rich spoilt brat Sid Mehra definitely entertained us well. The film marked the directorial debut of Ayan Mukerji. We definitely got to see an interesting, never thought before pairing of Konkana Sen Sharma and Ranbir. It was a hit among the masses, especially all the boys who actually could relate to his emotions. One of the most relatable scenes in the film was when his mother Supriya Pathak tells her that he needs to stop wearing t-shirts and start wearing shirts.I mean come on which boy wants to grow up???

But our hero definitely loved tees; nobody has looked as cute as Ranbir in these regular T-shirts. From Super hero prints to Cartoon print to an edgy print, he carried them off well and proved it to all of us that one doesn’t need to wear shirts when grown up.

BARFI

I know I have already dedicated one whole post to this film with all the facts and the similarities with the Notebook. But one thing I didn’t mention about it was that how much I loved seeing him in those Berrets. I guess after Dev Anand he is the only actor who actually dared to wear that kind of cap. Brownie points for bringing back that old school lure back in the cinema.

TAMASHA

Tamasha marked the reunion of the ex-lovers Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, second Ranbir’s film directed by Imtiaz Ali. Though the movie was intense but it surely gave us some scenic light moments in the Corsica chapter of the film. Capturing the romance between the two with a completely different idea of Roleplay. Don and Mona Darling. The Don definitely swept our hearts away by dancing on Matargashti and wearing those cool zipper jackets in that chapter. Loved those patent bright poppy colored jackets paired with basics.

I guess even Mona Darling loved that style, that’s why when the Don goes back to propose her, we see him in an electric blue zipper jacket paired with a blazer. Now that’s called a Don’s Style.

ROCKET SINGH: SALESMAN OF THE YEAR.

The movie directed by Shimit Amin under the banner of Yashraj films gives us a cool reality check about the salesman in our country! Although the film didn’t do well commercially, but I personally loved the film for two reasons. One for the avant-garde story line and the second for seeing Ranbir playing a Sardar, I mean who thought Ranbir could look so Adorable and Hot in that Avatar. Actually I am a little biased towards this because I myself am a sardarani, but still he nailed it.

We have seen Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan, his father Rishi Kapoor and many others in the Turbans but nobody carried those Turbans as well as our very own Ranbir Kapoor. Niharika Bhasin Khan (Costume Designer) definitely made sure our Sardar Ranbir's personality looked colorful in the film!

Have almost loved all his movies in past and had a great time working with him on shoots. A very Happy Birthday and wishing you all the luck for the upcoming film “ Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”.

Love,

Cine Closet.
